Then we thought about iamkingsley.com. But that sounds REALLY Narcissistic.

So.. we came back to one suggestion that someone gave us before… kingsleydog (playing up on the word D-O-T) dot com.

This is really cool All thanks to Buster, who told me about Mapmyrun.com. Now, i can keep track of my runs, the distance and such.

S and I have been tracking our runs for the past week. It’s nice to see the distance we covered. Gives us a sense of achievement!!

This was the run i did for the PAssion Run back in July. I have a few more runs coming up. So keep your eyes peeled.

Had so much fun during last sat’s dog hash. It was a great run set by Leader Shit. Lots of mud and water. The way i like it.

Oh.. we even saw the Singapore flag flying when we were running.

As for the circle.. it was hilarious!

It was a plot right out of the movies.

A lost and found black book, a double 007, sabotages, actors and actresses, academy awards given out and even new shoes!!

So much laughter… Do ask Duchess’ mummy how Duchess got her best actress award!

So in order to run, i was on my behaviour and well… try to pass off as a girl.. needless to say, i was able to pull wool over their eyes and completed the run.

You think i’d be worth that $60 shampoo? It doesn’t cost not much more than what i’m currently using, which is running low btw, after 1 year!!

Seems that this shampoo is not bad.. winning the ANIMAL FAIR MAGAZINE’S FIVE DOG BONE AWARDS. I am really grateful and thankful for the care and concern that they show me during my stay there. And best of all, they didn’t give up on me and even helped me to find my furever home.

Cos this is wat we have been doing with Ash the border bunny.

i was really upset when she let me out of the house, only to discover that she left me all alone outside. How does she expect me to press the lift button all by myself?

(S: darn funny sight! Silly Kingsley!)

And you were wondering who Ash is? Here’s Ash.

She is a 3 year old border rabbit!!! kekkekeke.. isn’t she pretty?

Took us sometime to finally take some pictures of her cos we had to buy a rabbit leash (say that 10 times really fast and see whether you get tongue tied or not! ) for her so that we could bring her out of her cage and take her out to walk together with us.

The black and white border collie and the black and white border rabbit. Wouldn’t you want to see us on our walks?

FYI: Ash doesn’t stay in the house with us. Ash was adopted from SPCA by one of our neighbours. While she is staying in a cage in the compound, we help to look after her by feeding, cleaning and excerising her.

But I really love them.. so much so that i’d stick my head right in to the tub, whether i get the chance to and refuse to come up for air.

Hence, i’m now so pleased that i have a Ben & Jerry’s something to bring around with. The best part is that i’m not the only one with something new today!! She got a woven lupine keyring to match my leash!!!

A limited edition (so-claimed) Ben & Jerry’s woven cow leash from Lupine. We’ve been told that there’s less than 5 pieces of the leash in Singapore and even i can’t Google to find anything on it at all. Given that it is a lupine leash… i’m mighty pleased with it. After all, their warranty is renowned and has a very solid reputation on producing one of the most hardy, best leashes and collars there is.

Most importantly, don’t you think that the cows go with my fur very well?

Now i have no more qualms grazing grass!!

But it was not so. I was really surprised when this dashing fellow came and join me with a tennis ball in his mouth. S was so taken by him.. cos we think that he saw me romping and playing with my ball that he wanted us to play with him too.

I had a lovely time… sniffed him.. and play some ball with him.

S tried to take a group picture with me in it… and har har.. guess wat? i spotted a drain to cool myself off.

(S: camera phones are too slow… blah!!)

After that… we had the meeting.. and finalised all the party planning.

This time round it was the women’s outdoor challenge. Did a 8k run… the heat was horrible. It started at 5.15pm which i felt was too early and i didn’t nearly get enough rest too.. cos S had to run off for a wedding dinner immediately after the run. (psstt… i heard that her legs were killing her when she wore heels that night. Didn’t help that the car was parked in basement 2 and she had to climb 4 flights of stairs up and down!)

it was funny.. cos as i was in the mist of running.. there was this little girl who pointed out to me and said to her daddy,”Look, a doggy!” And her daddy replied,”I hope it is a girl doggy!”

That put a smile on my face.

Needless to say, we did take our before and after running group pictures. We will have to wait for the pictures to be out.

As you can see… everyone is glowing with sweat.. except me! Me? i don’t sweat… just let my tongue hang out!

SOMEONE had dumped Salad, a golden retriever, more than two years ago.

Mr Liu with Salad, which he adopted two years ago. — SHIN MIN DAILY NEWS

Mr Liu Fu Cai took it in, saving the dog from the streets.

Last Monday morning, Salad its owner’s kindness.

A fire had broken out at an altar in Mr Liu’s shophouse at Block 2, Balestier Road at about 4am. The shops sells prayer items.

Mr Liu was sleeping upstairs, with his other dog, and was oblivious to what was going on in his shop. He was the only person in the shophouse.

But Salad, which usually stays downstairs at night because the overweight dog finds it a chore to climb steps, sensed that something was wrong and rushed up the stairs barking.

It even tugged at Mr Liu’s leg.

He told Shin Min Daily News: ‘It must have been 4am, and Salad ran up the stairs and stood by my bed barking non-stop. He kept biting my leg.’

Mr Liu went down, saw the fire and tried to put it out using a towel. When it didn’t work, he used a fire extinguisher.

After the fire was put out, Mr Liu found that the damage was mostly at the altar area and suspected that a melting lotus lamp might have started the fire.

ORANGE GLOW

Mr Liu’s business partner, identified only as Mr Wong, said that neighbours told him they had seen an orange glow in the shophouse, but assumed that it was the two men burning incense paper.

Mr Liu told Shin Min Daily News: ‘The most important thing is that everyone is okay. I am indebted to Salad.’

He said he had taken Salad in because he could not bear the thought of the dog living on the streets.

But Salad is also a favourite with the workers who come to the neighbourhood for lunch every day.

Mr Wong said people often look for Salad during lunch time to play with it. They also buy food for it, which has made it obese.

‘Salad’s lunch menu is always very elaborate. He eats all sorts of good stuff, and we don’t even have to feed him.’

The fact that Salad made the effort to dash upstairs to warn Mr Liu about the fire has touched him deeply.

‘My neighbours say Salad was repaying my kindness to him. I’m not sure if that’s true, but the fact is he’s saved me from danger.

‘He’s even more important to me now, and I will love him and look after him until his last day.’

Isn’t it wonderful? And i’m so glad that Salad found someone who adopted him. Mr. Liu, needless to say, is deeply rewarded by his own kind deed.

Though her new adopters fosters think that she’s not too happy at their place cos she always looks like this when she is at home and bored.

But having seen her with her new foster family today at the Hougang Mall event, i think that she is doing rather well.

Isn’t it cute? i imagine that i looked like that when i was a puppy.

This time round, it is going to be in a shopping mall!! How cool is that? After all, it is not very often that we, especially big dogs, get to step into nice air-con public areas and be part of the centre of attraction!!.

Doggywood will be at Hougang Mall from 9th – 14th March. And I will be there on both weekends, Sat and Sun as one of the dogs that people can queue up to take pictures with! And the photographer is none other than my fave photographer, CK and my fave person in the whole wide world, S!!

Other dogs who are invited “celebrities” include Wester (who is celebrating his birthday on Sat!), Waylah , Ah Girl, Miko, my extended JRT family, Shaggy and some other dogs… (I was sleeping at home when they decided to volunteer my services!!)

There will be doggy events from 1pm onwards, with various contests and performance by my fellow dogs. Obedience, doggy idol, fastest eaters, dogwalk fashion and of cos the photography session.

The photography session will start at 6pm and it will be free for people who spend $30 at Hougang Mall on those days. So.. if you want your own personal picture with me… come down to Hougang Mall this or next weekend at 5.30pm.

P/s… BTW.. the library will be there too… and in some way.. S is also involved in that as well. Funny how things work out. So, do get your library card ready.. There’s lots of interesting and cool books that you can borrow home to read too!

“Canine Behavioral Genetics Project is a collaboration between Dr. Steven Hamilton of the University of California, San Francisco and Dr. Karen Overall of the University of Pennsylvania. The goals of this project are:

To explore the relationship between genes and behavior, both normal and abnormal, in domestic dogs.

To assess the amount and nature of genetic diversity in domestic dogs, both within and between breeds.

Our project is currently recruiting participants and collecting DNA samples from both purebred and mixed-breed dogs. Specifically, w e are looking for:

Behaviorally affected dogs: Dogs that suffer or appear to suffer from panic, fear, anxiety, compulsive behaviors, and aggression. Examples of such behaviors include (but are not limited to) separation anxiety, noise phobias, fears of people, places, or other dogs, and aggression toward people or other dogs.

Family members of behaviorally affected dogs: Members of a known, accessible family (including siblings, parents, grandparents, etc.) related to one or more behaviorally affected dogs. Pedigrees, if available, are highly useful to this research, although not necessary for participation.

Non-behaviorally affected dogs: Dogs that do not display any anxiety related behaviors are welcome to participate in this study. These dogs are necessary for a comparative sample, as well as to assess diversity and population structure both within and between breeds.”

Now, recently, their work was highlight in an SF weekly article titled, “Psycho Dogs – What makes canines go crazy? The answer is in their genes.”

This study is really interesting cos by studying dogs and their DNA who has been selectively bred by humans for hundreds of years for selected traits and behaviours, behavioral genes can be identified. Importantly and specifically, genes that cause behavioural problems such a noise phobia, agression, OED behaviours and such can be identified. And the results in this study may also be a breakthrough for human genetics studies to understand human genes as well.

I have been aware of this study that has been going on and am glad to have some findings on it. Afterall, sometimes it is the genetic makeup that caused problems. Though i believe that understand and positive training helps at well.

The article also speaks of Solo, a beautiful red border collie owned by one of the researchers, Dr. Melanie Chang.

Before Melanie, Solo was placed/rehomed 5 times… and when he got to Melanie’s, she was his last hope. He had severe seperation anxiety, amist other problems.. however, with medication, training and reinforcement, Solo has achieved much over the years! Getting his CGC, going for sheep trails and even getting his agility title! I must say,”Kudos to Melanie and all her hard work and love.. and most importantly for not giving up on Solo!”

I’m glad that there are people out there who are trying to understand us and believes in giving us a second chance, and most importantly, for loving us.

It took us a few recees to really determine the trail. After all, we had to make sure that the trail was interesting and long enough for an hour’s run.

Well, needless to say, i had a blast during the recee and setting of the trail and i hope that all my doggy runners and their humans enjoyed it. And looking at the pictures… the run was a success. I can’t wait for the 5th Anniversary Run cum Celebrations!

As mentioned, this run was laid along a busy road so all good doggies had to lead their owners.

And the refreshing part of the run.. where everyone enjoyed themselves so much, except for Ah Chai, Russell and Summerhat Maugham ( I suspect he was afraid of getting his hat wet!).

Ah Chai after a while in the stream, absolutely refused to move.. and Aunty Ann just left him behind.. prompting Aunty Alice to carry him cos she pitied him so much. As for Russell? He was the only dog that kept going up on to the sandbank at every opportunity!

For the record.. there was three beagles; Oliver, Marco and Sparky.. and boy.. did all of them cause some humans to be confused.

First and foremost, there’s Molly (who BTW, is still looking for a furever home).

Then came Fei, who sent me her virtual Valentine wishes..

And today… i got a package addressed to me.

i was really excited and couldn’t wait to open the package.

I was so surprised to find a Valentine’s Day card and present for me all the way from my lovely girl in Canada!!!

ETA: a special photo from her to me..

i simply love her bitchy babe stare!!

Lovely, sweet Ms. Sunshade said that the moment she saw the frisbee in her Kong box, she simply knew that i’d be most thrilled with the frisbee.. and wants me to fly thru the air to catch it for her.

i was so thrilled and couldn’t wait to do what she wants me to do and slobber all over the lovely present.

Hence… when someone throws herself at me.. you can imagine wat kind of reaction i’d have. Not that she isn’t a lovely young lady. The sweetest and nicest girl that everyone else was clamouring after.

Failing which, resorting to acting injuried and even got Milo into the act

And this was the main sucker for her... whining and pining for her, you can see him going after her in the video above, proving that he is a BI and not gay as previously feared by his owner.

i thought we have a great relationship.

He loves being chased and chewed.

i love chasing and chewing him.

Even my friends love him.

So why would he run away from me?

The last time i saw him was at the SKC dog show.

Did he fall in love with someone else and decided to end our relationship by eloping with another?

How could he leave me without saying a word?

i should have bitten off at least one of his legs..

that way, he wouldn’t be able to run away.

Here’s another possibility, maybe he got a dye job, disguised himself and ran away to be with Joe and Tanner.

i miss my squido!!!!

This is the first time that the library had such an event, and i think that it is great. Did you know that the library actually has tons of interesting books that you can read from its pet section? From stories about doggies, to our training, nutrition and even photography. See… that’s how i know how to pose for my pictures to make myself look the best at all times!

Of course some of my all time favourite books do feature my relatives. One’s Chester the out-of-work dog, another’s Sheep by Valerie Hobbs and not forgetting writings by James Herriot.

I had a wonderful time looking at the books..Let me teach you the finer details of choosing a book to read.

The first thing anyone must do is to sniff and browse

Hrrmmpp.. this book about agility training looks interesting..

Ou-oh.. i forgot to bring my library card.. and the library system’s not advance enough to scan my pawprint or even read my iris.. so.. got to speed read the book thru.

The librarians did say that if i pimp myself as a token as an incentive to encourage dogs and humans to borrow books they’d let me have some of the books to bring home.

So i did just that.

And even had to promote their Ask! service

as mentioned in the last post, the humans are the strangest type of beings i know.. why do they want to be copycats instead of humans?

P/s.. Look, Uncle Mick… no mention of Stinky even though he poo-ed poo-ed at the feet of Uncle David!!!!!

Tons of dogs and humans turn out for this hash.. and it was really great that everyone was wearing proper running shoes.. and for a good reason too. We were really running in the forested area.. and as one human found out, SHE actually managed to sprain her ankle due to some lousy unlaced shoes plus wrong footing whilst running..

I really like this run.. for the reason being that the hares were really tricky… they really went all out to set false trails. So much so that even though i was running way in front for most part of the dash… i ended up being near the tail end… and had to play catch up with the rest of the humans and doggies.

I wish that i had tons of pictures to show.. however, due to someone’s re-chargeable batteries becoming unchargeable… the camera didn’t work towards the end.

Oh well.. what to do..

But upon downloading my pictures… i found that the hash people are really strange.. they seemed to like to be copying each other… hrrmmpp… i really think that they are a totally different species, you know? Not humans.. rather… COPYCATS!!!

The worst thing that anyone can do is to download the picture, upload to another hosting company.. and ridicule my picture and make malicious comments and defamatory remarks.

That is a definite no-no.

And yes.. there was someone who did just that a couple of days ago.. and was S pissed. So, she captured everything… went to make a police report…. got in touch with the blog hosting co and photo hosting co. and got in touch with their legal officers.. and well.. we are awaiting further action.

I would expect that this is just a one-off case of course… not everyone is like that.. and so ignorant that she can just get away with publishing rubbish on her blog just becos it is her blog.

On a more positive note… there are other people who are using my website and pictures to be published in books! Now.. with S being a librarian.. i’m sure that she’d get those books for her collection.

The first one is written by no other than Ms. Jellybeano and her colleague!! Her writings is titled, “”Empirical Advances for the Study of Weblogs: Relevance and testing of random effects models”.

I don’t know what it means… after all.. i’m not the one with the P.H.D ( Permanent Head Damage). I never even attended school! Boo Hoo Hoo hoo!!

But here’s the abstract.. if you can understand…

“The global blogging phenomenon has caught researchers by surprise. While past research has focused on the motivations behind blogging, since the number of weblogs is growing at such an unprecedented rate, the roles played by their visitors should not be overlooked. This chapter presents an empirical analysis of weblogs from a methodological perspective that demonstrates empirical advances in this research area. Owing to the large number of weblogs in our sample and the persistent use of certain technological features in some of these weblogs, accounting for individual blog-specific effects through traditional dum-my-variable regression is infeasible.”

The other book that i may be appearing in is by a couple of US authors, Beverly West, Jason Bergund, to be published in Fall 2007. It is a pictorial book that is a hysterical look at what are pets are doing while the humans are at work, coincidentally called, “What Pets Do While You’re At Work” from Scribner Books.

Now.. i’m not going to tell you which picture of mine maybe going to appear in that book.. kekek..

It’s all hush hush hush now..

Guess that when it appears.. all my friends will be getting that book for Christmas!!!

Under the command of our fearless leaders, Mini Humper aka Gerald and Adrenaline junkie, Kenneth, we had a very successful recee of the dog hash site for run #62 in March.

We were receeing the site for 2 runs – Lion City HHH and SK9HHH, so we had the company humans from the 2 hashing groups consisting of our leaders, Maria, Eleven, Jadely, CK and S.

All dog hashers will be glad to know that i have survived the recee from the brink of death to bring you this report of the first recee of the site.. as you can see from the things that our fearless co-leader had to do..

As much as i like my job to be easy peasy without much hassle, a undulating terrain gives me so much more pleasure in hashing.

And since i love water… how can we not have any?

It is going to be a great one for all of us.. and you can trust my words.

We got to enjoy a nice long break on the knoll of a hill too.

And needless to say.. I had a BLAST!!!!

Well… i wouldn’t say that i have made any German Shepherd friends.. but i have become more tolerant of German Shepherds. Why this change? Because of this beautiful girl.

Meet Nikki… with her Daddy. I normally meet her during my morning walks.. and it is through many of such walks that we have become more oblivious of each other’s existence. And S will tell you it’s a good thing cos otherwise… the whole neighbourhood will be WIDE AWAKE with us shouting at each other…kekekek. As you can see.. we can take walks together without us wanting to lunge at each other.. and can sit and stay in relative close distances.

Nikki was abandoned at a marina in Singapore with another dog after the thrill of owing of dogs wore off for her owner. The two dogs (another collie/spitz mix) were left with without water, food or shelter, except for the efforts of a employee who was there to care for them. When she quit working at the marina, there was no one to care for Nikki and the other dog. What’s worse was that the monsoon season came.. and they were totally helpless. The lady.. got in touch with SPCA… however, the conditions of the two dogs weren’t that great, healthwise and SPCA may not want to keep them alive.. so the lady contacted her own friends and such.. and managed to get JJ’s mum to take a look.

Turned out the Nikki is such a gentle girl.. and is a great sibling to JJ. However, due to the months of neglect that she had suffered, she now needs to bulid up strength in the hip areas and also is undergoing heartworm treatment (yup.. she’s got heartworm.. don’t think that SPCA would have treated her condition and i’m not supposed to get her all excited too!!).

All i can say that Kelly and Derek are both doing a great job.. and i’m going to miss them.. cos they’d be moving to a big house end of this week.. to a place where Nikki and JJ can run around free in and out of the house.. and in the garden too. Isn’t great?

Now.. if only i get my invite to visit them once in a while.

p/s in case you are wondering about the collie/spitz mix.. she got adopted too by a nice family too.

I’ve been wanting to meet the co-founder of my BBC for the longest time but hasn’t had much time to do so. BTW, recruitment for the club is going great. I’m getting buttons for us to wear soon.

We were all set to meet up at Sentosa.. however, he was late. Must be throwing a tantrum again.

All i could do was to entertain myself with my Squido (as christianed by Aunty Jellybeano).

ETA: I think that it is very BAD SPORTSMANSHIP when one rotti is unable to swim as fast as me to get Squido and decides instead to clamber all over me and tries to drown me. That was MOST CERTAINLY A FOUL… and it’s not funny when i tried to make my complaints heard by all within earshot (S: yeah right….it is funny when everyone on the beach could hear you complaining… five minutes after that incident!)

However, that wasn’t the end of all the fun. We had to wake up early this morning for some fresh air, frisbee, running, open space and fellow black and whites.

Aunty Jellybeano bought yummy food… Uncle K brought the picnic table and chairs.. S and I were all set to sit on the ground… but you know.. chairs and tables has its advantages too. And soon we were off playing frisbee and running around.

It was great fun… all the open space and no one to bother us.

She has got a very good temperment. However, she is extremely smart, has tons of energy, and loves to chew… given that she is still a puppy. And she is looking for a home.

Well.. not everyone is suitable for border collies.

And Molly needs a owner who is willing to work her and train her and not just leave her at home.. She’d go crazy.. and you’d go crazy with the destruction that she is capable of.

Potential adopters will be screened very carefully. Note that BCs are not suitable for first time owners and students, don’t bother to apply. Adoption fees may be applicable. And Molly will be neutered.

To the reservoir, we had our first outing,

“Cannonball’s away!” We jumped into the pool yelling.
